Origami Fish Wish

Paper boats bouncing on an emerald green sea
A bright pink humming bird humming off key

Marshmallow clouds in a frosted blue sky
A child in a red cape trying to fly

Geese honking hymns in a V formation
A family of eight on their vacation

Out of the south, came a sudden warm breeze
It blew around my ankles, and my knees

My hair was caught in the swish of this wind
My bell bottoms rippled, and then I grinned

There was a little fish sailing my way
Flying like a kite on a windy day

He was bright yellow with folds on his back
He puffed in the middle like a lunch sack

He came to my ear and nibbled awhile
It tickled so much, I ran for a mile

He was origami, and spoke fish talk
I invited him to go for a walk

He told me secrets about paper fish
They were magical, and worth one whole wish

I thought and I thought as we spoke that day
What would be the wish that I would convey?

I whispered in his ear, and then he flew
I told him what I thought I knew, I knew

I asked him for the sun to stay and play
To make us all children on this bright day

Children of the world playing together
In a world of magic, and good measure
