Kaleidoscopes and Calliopes

Secrets of planets, moons, and stars
Are sprinkled in every child’s heart
Glistening arrows shooting shadows
Aiming for scary noises in the dark

Covered with glitter from the sun
Beaming like the moon so bright
Turning and spinning on one foot
A child moves in, to catch the light

Firefly dancers in a field of dreams
Rest in the hair of an old oak tree
Crowning the night with their jewels
Prancing in circles for children to see

Shooting stars from another place
Land in imaginations like embers
Igniting a zillion million lit nights
Too many to count, or remember

Tracing stars like a giant dot-to-dot
To find treasures of distant worlds
Tumbling like the wind down hills
All inner joy and laughter unfurled

Spinning constellations go zoom
While a feather tickles the insides
Butterflies flutter in belly coasters
Where the light in each child resides

Kaleidoscopes and calliopes
Spin and spread such laughter
Catch the light at work and play
Live happily in smiles ever after
