Earthen Windows
Thoughts like bricks mortared into walls
Homestead ruins, a fortress standing tall
Orange cinders, dreams that came to rest
Yesterday’s voices, man’s noblest quests
Sheltering her people, answering her call
Towers of unity and truth that did befall
Light from an old window spilling grace
God rolls within this warm earthen space
Abandoned with abundance, still giving
A window to a new day, fields of living

This poem moved me truly as
This poem moved me truly as life has dealt disparate cards of late. My friend recently miscarried and, in reach for words that to me were for once elusive, I quoted those four last lines. I know the poem doesn’t deal with the particular topic but its lasting message I find universally comforting. On an even more personal note, I resonate so painfully with the couplet “Orange cinders, dreams that came to rest /
Yesterday’s voices, man’s noblest quests”. It’s a stunning little write and I thank you so much for sharing it. You are very much a poet that evokes a lot of beauty and faith in your work and I admire that very much.
Warm regards,
Stuart
~Warm and Caring Friend~
Stuart,
I am so sorry for your friend's loss. In my age, in my walk with God, I have learned that to be abandoned is to be abundant. I know this is in contrast with a world point of view, but it is a treasure to comprehend. When we can submit ourselves to God in everything we do, nothing can harm us. Yes, bad things still happen, but life changes and you become the child of a loving Father. It is reassuring to know God's love completes all anquish; we become sown into the heart of an everlasting Father.
Read my poem, "Baby Angels", it will comfort your friend.
Thanks for being such a selfless poet, with a heart for others.
Warm regards,
Kathy
