Christmas Eyes on America's Streets

Christmas eyes on America’s streets
Children of a country’s blatant need
A thread of the red, white, and blue
Seeking the company of a new view
A bright light to fill wide eyed hearts
A place to give hope, a place to start
Not in the moment, but in the change
That only a loving God could arrange
Christ in the hands of America’s song
An anthem to soothe all our wrongs
Seeking humility upon a manger bed
A homeless infant that our God fed
In spacious abandon, our God saves
In our country’s torn banner, it waves
Not as a united symbol of our nation
But as a Christmas gift, our salvation
Christmas eyes on America’s streets
An invitation to be another’s wheat

May we fill the hearts of each other this holiday season.
May Christ be in your East, your West, your South, and your North.

Christmas every day

~God Bless Us~

Philip,

I am delighted that you joined the Poetry Showcase. You are a beautiful soul and it is a pleasure to have you comment on my work(s).

I made this poem about America, because she has a reputation in the world for being a gateway for dreams.
I am afraid the American dream is turning into a nightmare. We need the support of the world to turn this bad dream around.

My heart is for all people. May each light shine, so we may see. God bless us.

Warm regards,

Kathy Paysen
