A Summer Shower
The rain came down
And soaked into the earth
And the wild flowers in the fields
Drank it up
And sang it out
In shapes and colors
And happy worms wriggled
On the sidewalks
And streams swelled
Rushing over stones and
Around boulders
And gurgled and swirled and foamed
And raindrops
Ran down window panes
And beat on tin roofs
And on flooded streets lined with shops
And spoke through the leaves
Splattered on pebbles
And mushroom tops
And ran in gutters
Reshaping the sand
Bent the tall grasses
Exerting their will
Blew in through the screen
All over the sill
Abated a little
Then moved towards the hill
Got beyond the valley
And left the air still

And I love this!
what a great flow on words. I like how it starts out slow then i find mind self reading faster and faster. This is brilliant and adorable at the same time.

Gosh
Gosh you are so kind-I hope you find it a nice, ripe plum.
:-)
This flows so well. Very descriptive poem of an almost everyday occurrence.(UK) Nice one. May your poems keep coming as often and as refreshing as summer showers.
So grateful
Thank-you for your kind comment and encouragment. I wish they
all came like summer showers.
