Broken

With the moon hiding over the horizon,
And the sun fading with shimmering gold,
A marker that the day is done,
Another day with me left cold.

Alone and Abject without you,
Emotions that you left,
You wanted life anew,
Me in the dust, bereft.

Part of Cupid’s regime,
It ended with nightmares,
It started with a dream,
You, the answer to my prayers.

How do I move on?
Do you not regret?
Until dust and bone,
My heart shall not forget.

I will be here,
If you ever need me,
A relic of you and me,
A case of wild love,
And one left untamed, You.

How do you get past it

It is never easy to get the mind and heart to understand when one you love so deeply decides that the feelings were not exclusively mutual and picks up and leaves. Time heals these wounds but it never totally erases the memories.
