Two poems

What Having a Son Is Like

It is like standing
in front of God
with my roots running
deep into the earth

knowing

one day some other
man will stand here his
roots running into mine
rooted and awestruck
as I am

as all his ancestors
rise up shouting!

Short Bald Poem

Baldness comes out of
Nowhere. It appears,
grinning, like a new moon.

Hair falls from it.

I liked the self effacing humor in this piece

Jorge,

My dad was bald but somehow i got lucky and the baldness passed me by, I may be going fray but it's not going away. this was a clever pieve and I enjoyed it.

Pete

Thanks Pete. I like it as

Thanks Pete. I like it as well. It fits my middle son, Mike, who lost his hair at around 30. He used to complain about it. I told him not to worry, and to think of the money he'd save on haircuts and shampoo.

George..

I enjoyed, both of these pieces. The first was my favourite, and very moving.

Debs

Thank you, Debs, it's also

Thank you, Debs, it's also one of mine. I've written a poem about each of my children, and I like them all (poems and children)

I like them both, George

I like the first because it moved me. I could see the man watching his son before God and feeling the connection of roots and then seeing the ancestors rising up to welcome him. Great images!

I like the second one - the image of the bald spot resembling a grinning new moon is original and true, I never thought of it that way before, and then the one picturing the hair falling out makes me laugh - glad I don't have to worry about that!
