Something’s got to give!

Conflicting responsibilities
Create thinking disabilities
Stressing out over what I need to do

How do I keep on meeting
Situations that are competing
When my choices will make someone blue

Try to do what’s right for you
Try to be true to me too!
Maybe it’s time for trying something new

Something’s got to give!

Living other’s expectations
Leaving too many deviations
My priorities haven’t got a chance

Stomach clenching in reaction
Another situation – another contraction
Walking through the day in a trance

Try to be true to you
Try to do what’s right for me too!
Maybe it’s time for trying something new

Something’s got to give!

Dealing with the consequences
Even though the jaw clenches
How much more of this must be faced?

Another day of passive aggression
Fighting against the pull of regression
Decisions and change now require haste

Try to be true to you
Try to do what’s right for me too!
Maybe it’s time for trying something new

Something’s got to give!

Conflicted

This is great JC, you can feel the frustration, the anger. It is hard when you want to do what is right for everyone else and you also want to do what you feel is right for yourself, and those two things conflict. You feel pushed and pulled and it does get to that point where as you say "Something's got to give!" It is hard to hold it all in sometimes. I have been at a point where I felt this, my end thought in this process being that the only person that I have to answer to for my life is God and myself. We only get one life and everyone deserves to be happy. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Jill

I wrote this a while ago but had it saved in my unfinished file. I remember exactly how I was feeling and frustration, anger, and feeling like I could no longer bury things with apathy. Sometimes it takes pain to force change. Thanks for the nice feedback.
