A LITTLE A AND R

Anger and his cousin Resentment, came to visit again today.
It’s been such a long since they showed up.
I wonder how long they will stay?!

The longer Anger stays, the more I like him.
He grows on you! Changes you! Mocks you!
Brings out the best of the very worst of you!
And like pulling on a thick wool sweater on a
cold, blustery day, the itch and irritation… The
prickly feelings, the constant notice of the growing rash,
become more and more comfortable as time goes on.

The thought of changing becomes more uncomfortable than
the itch and chaffing on your skin. Wrapping your arms around
the feelings, you wonder how anyone can expect you to take off
something that has become such a part of you…
Something that goes with everything you wear!

Resentment is the quiet cousin, who always gets his way.
Thought provoking and deep! Fueling the feelings with faulty
logic and twisted truths. Combining them like braids until they take on
a life of their own! And with a skill we never knew we possessed,
we become the playwright. Rehashing… looking at wrongs and
slights, and setting down line after line of conversations…
The way they should have happened!

How dare you treat me like that! Don’t you know what I’ve been through?!
Can you believe what they did to me?! What about my feelings?!
ME! MY! I! How dare you!

And like our own personal Nor’easter moving up the coast…
The pressures and agitations increase, our tolerance crumbles…
The dark clouds of yesterday’s Resentment, build around the
lightening bolts of Anger… and channel their energies into plans
for the revenges to come tomorrow…

Making for a very rainy, stormy day today!
