Winter Is Coming

You know it's coming
Drawing nearer
As the evenings get darker
And the skies clearer.

The way the cold bites
The way you see smoke as you breath,
The way they're so sharp
The icy, crisp nights,
And all around you seems to freeze.

The way a chill that stops you
Icing you from the core,
Birds wanting food
Needing more and more.

The way the wind blows
A gusty, blustery breeze
As it makes a carpet of leaves
And ever so skeletal look the trees.

The way you see
The first flakes of snow
Like pure white confetti
They come and go,

Landing on the ground,
Making a perfect shimmering shawl
Like a blanket of silver
As you watch it fall.

The way the blueness comes
Making everything seem quite bleak
As the frost covers over
Icing everything so deep.

The way the sun
Is no longer hot,
But crisp and warming
Like it's never going to stop.

The way it's happening
The way time makes it come
Because winter's on it's way
So say goodbye to the autumn run.
