a Whale Swimming for Freedom
Clouds descend covering
sinister sultry skies,
we hold our breath and wait
for the weather to break
for the humidity to die...
The sound of a hundred growling dogs
unpredictably fill the air,
the flash of sunlight on giant's knives
unexpectedly shock us with their glare.
The sound of a river opening
pouring down like a monsoon,
the noise of a whale swimming for freedom
awakens us from our gloom.
The sounds of a thunderstorm
filling you with envy and fear
as we rush outside to dance in the puddle paths,
that feeling of coolness on our hands and bare feet
we jump for joy
and laugh.

oooo
I dig your description and metaphors here, Jewel. I kinda miss the rain... Haven't seen it in months! Hopefully no hurricanes will come here any time soon. I can also appreciate the ending about enjoying the storm cooling down the air and jumping around in the puddles. In Florida, an afternoon thunderstorm brings a nice break to the heat. Nice poem you got here, my friend!
Not in months?
omg that is so unfair, we've had two-and-a-half weeks of it now....still, I'm starting to quite like the rain! I wrote that about the ending because I can remember my dad saying that when he was in Nigeria when the rain came it was like a monsoon, and all the people there treated it like a celebration-amazing! thanks so much neo, my friend! :D ♥
Maryland weather
Do you live in Marlyand, Jewel? That's where I live, and it's humid to all get-up here. DX
Anyways, AWESOME poem~! ^_^ I luff the rhymes; they fried my brain. XD And of course, the metaphores were full of win.
Never been there before
I'm from that little island with the constant black raincloud over it-oh I love England xD (no really, I do hehe) aww, you're making me blush, thanks you....let me know if I fry your brain again :D ♥
