Christmas time
The best time of year,
Festive spirits erupting all round
Smiling and good cheer,
As we laugh,
Happy and merry
Because of the time of year it is
(Or maybe because we've had one too many sherry)
When giving
And receiving
Feels as good as one another,
When believing
And living
Are stood as each other.
Where you sense it's Christmas time
A feeling that's tingly and wonderfully sublime,
Being with your family,
Gathering together under the tree,
Joking along with your friends,
At just a kind word or two
All hearts can mend,
As we forgive and forget
(Just for a few weeks, at least)
Let the past year go and have fun
As we embrace the season of goodwill
And peace.
