Spring is in the air
Everything around you crying out with newness,
The way trees are no longer bare,
And the frosts are less and less.
The sunshine, warm and inviting,
The wind mild, no longer biting,
Primroses poking their heads above ground,
Chirping birdsong a frequent sound.
Green shoots emerging beneath your feet,
Nature's waking up, it's no longer asleep,
Bud's forming upon every branch
Like minute green beads,
Things so full of revival and energy
Plants growing, no longer seeds.
Fresh dewdrops twinkling at you
From a blade of grass,
Seeming to dance in front of your eyes
Then gone, as the sun's passed.
Streams coming alive again
Seeming to speak with their friendly gush
Water droplets perfect bubbles of gems
Like diamonds in the rough.
Evenings edging lighter,
You can sense it on the air you breathe
That spring is in the air
Between every sight it weaves.
Daffodil heads cautiously peeping out,
Snowdrops springing up by the scores,
Letting us know there should be no more
Icy mornings, hard and raw.
Just that feeling you get
Of happiness and a new start,
With a spring in your step
And hope in your heart.
Trees bursting into blossom
Scenting all with a beautiful perfume,
Yellows and pinks,
Golds and reds
So many colours to consume.
With your eyes all you see
Is that vivid spring green,
So striking and bright
An almost impossible natural hue,
Sparkling as it reflects the sun's beams
Back at you
Like amazing lime dynamite
Fluorescent in the night.
So many signs that spring
Really is on the way,
Rejoice and enjoy seeing things coming into bloom
From now on and every day,
Because spring is coming
We all know very soon.
