On My Ridge

I remember the valley
the dip so deep I thought I'd fall in
the ridge I felt safe on
where you could sit on tussocks of moss
and see the mountains stretch endlessly before you
way out towards the horizon
standing so proud, majestic and beautiful
yet at the same time they scared me
almost menacing and tall
and I was so childlike and small,
I felt safe on the ridge
my ridge, I called it,
where I could see the whole land
green wooded areas
with little log cabins like doll's houses,
like the scenery I'd seen on nature programmes
but I was really there
it was real,
the blue lake a shiny disc
reflecting the sun's gaze up into the blue sky
it looked like the sea
with clouds frosted spider webs
warm and hazy and safe,
I'd never been so content before
as to when I was there
sitting and gazing in awe at it all
on my ridge, so safe.

probably more so at the time because I'd never seen anything like it before....aww, thank you Mark! :D ♥

the country

I love going on vacations out in the country. The lakes, trees, open spaces, it's all so nice. Great description in this one, Jewel. I haven't been to Norway but I have been to Sweden and just love that part of the world.

All Scandinavian countries

have beautiful places once you get to the more far out spots-I went there in the summertime but I'd love to visit again in winter or autumn. thanks neo, for always taking the time to read and comment! :D ♥
