My Only Wish

Wishes
so simple,
yet easily broken
like promises
hinging on one word.
Hope
like a cloud
drifting through memories
good or bad
you just need to look
in the right places
and you'll find them
always.
Light to the touch
a feather
rests on my cheek...
rainbows dance
eyelids flicker
sending me to sleep.
Dreams fade
though each being kept
in the back of your mind
just a little bit of luck
for when times are tough.
Flying up
I just want to touch you
I just want to protect you...
All that I need
right or wrong,
is you...
Finding you
is like catching water
the more you grab
the more you lose...
but I'll find you
one day,
someday,
if this is all
that will ever be from me
my only wish
my only dream,
my only promise
to find you.

A true quest of the heart

eyelids flicker…

Dreams fade…

You never cease to amaze.

For all it's worth...

I can't stop smiling

after reading your words, I don't think I'm that good at non-rhyming poetry, but this one felt different when I wrote it...and I'm glad you see that too, thank you Jesse :D Jewel ♥

Doctor Susse was Forced

Most too often, I feel that most rhyming stanzas are pushed and I find them to almost sound forced when they shouldn't be.
For all it's worth...

Yeah

I agree, you can tell when you're reading if a poem sounds natural or if it's been played about with to make things rhyme...you just need to go with what you feel ♥
