Lantern of Life
Feel a sizzle race across your skin
a shiver of goosebumps
taste the anticipation in the air,
like someone squeezing your hand so tight
ruffled and raw and rare.
Sharp and crisp on this night
you could cut the space in front of you with a knife,
my eyes try and find some depth
try and penetrate the intensity
as I stare at the silver streaked sky
and stop trying,
only feel my breath like a lantern
lighting up the life which I've left.

great
first line!
Thanks!
I've had a touch of writer's block for a while, haven't been able to make anything click, but that first line was the one I was most pleased with! thank you for your comment Paul :D ♥
new beginning
Never too late for a new beginning. As always your words are full of life and feeling!
I love that saying
"it's never too late" my gran's always saying that! aw, thanks so much neo :D ♥

Thank you,
Mark
Thank you Mark!
I got inspired when I was star-gazing the other night, the first time I've written something for ages-thank you! :D ♥
Nice...very nice!
Funny you mentioned writing after star gazing. I had a recent bout with writers block or 'poetic constipation'. A beautiful night seems to work like magic for clearing the mind and letting it flow! I can see you sitting there. Very cool!
Peace & Blessings!
