Guilt Gets You
it creeps
quietly from the beginning
slowly, gnawing away
you don't notice it at first
until it's big, it's almost here
storming through
knocking obstacles
out of the way
you can see it coming
you can hear it beating
you can feel its power
you can scent its hunger
on the jaws
of the attacker,
as its approach draws nigh
and it swallows you
whole.

OMG!!!
You make guilt sound so scarey! No wonder it's such an effective tool for mothers everywhere!
Enjoyable, brilliant read here!
Take care,
Mark
I wrote this one ages ago
I've had the old writer's block for a while, so I posted this from when I was 14-and feeling guilty heeh! thanks for your comment Mark! :D ♥
That's right
It does build up like that. Ever read the "Tell Tale Heart" by Poe? That's another good example of it. It really is a powerful and crippling emotion. Fine write, Jewel.
I have actually
ooh, it really chilled me the first time I read it-I love his short, spooky stories! thanks neo :D ♥
Good Piece
Like the way you made the reader experience the rollercoaster ride towards panic!

Dave

~You Nailed It~
Jewel,
WOW! You really captured the spirit of guilt. You must have been a very sensitive, insightful teenager.
You really are a talented poet...dear one.
I hope all is well with you. I love your spirit Jewel.

I can't actually remember why I wrote it, I just had that feeling of guilt, you know, and had to let it out-now I'm glad I did! thanks so much Kathy, you're always so kind with your comments :D ♥
