Meet Me at The Water

For so long, I’ve walked in circles
Trying to find my way through life
Tripping over my own two feet
Often falling to my knees
I dust myself off and try again
Thinking this time, I’ll get it right
Looking within to find the answers
And then, down, I go again
The path is not always clear
And at times darkness casts a spell
Over light, making it hard to see
No matter how hard I search
The result is another dead end
But, in the stillness of night
As I’m lying in my bed
A soft voice whispers in my ear
I feel a gentle tug on my heart
It is then that I feel your presence
Wrapped around my weak body
Telling me there’s more for me
A higher plan for my life
Cause when I pray, you hear me
You lift the burden from my heart
And calm the worries on my mind
Private thoughts only you and I know
The time is now, I will no longer delay
I need you as my road map
To lighten the path I must travel
For only you know where I need to be
Take my hands, use them to do your work
Let them reach out to those in need
Take my feet, to lead me into places
Where I can be a living example
Take my mouth, that I may speak words
Of kindness and hope, praise and comfort
Take my eyes, that I may look beyond my
Selfishness to seek the need of others
Take my ears, that I may be attentive to
Your voice and let your word move through me
Take my mind, fill it with peace from
A troubled past that haunts my thoughts
Take my heart, brush off the pains of
Yesterday and let my scars heal
For today, I give all my life to you
To follow a higher calling, a bigger need
Help me to love others the way you love
To be a beacon of light leading others to you
Use me to do your will on Earth
Change my way of thinking, Lord
And help me to grow in your word
To be a living testimony of what you came here to do
When I rise from that water today
My name will be written in heaven.
My appearance will be unchanged
Though my being, white as snow
I am ready to give all I have to you, Lord
For you are the void that’s been missing
Today, I put my old ways aside
And raise my arms toward heaven
Father, meet me at the water
