What If?

What if my parents had welcomed me with open arms,
Instead of telling me I wasn't wanted
What if they had took time to notice me,
Other than when I brought home all A's on my report card

Mommy, What is Christmas?

Mommy, will you tell me what those lights are for?
And, why is there a tree on our living room floor?
Why are there gifts placed underneath?
And, what is that thing you call a wreath?

Today and Tomorrow

Today, may I hold your hand,
As we open this new door
May I look into your eyes,
As I never have before.
Today, may we feel the love,
That brought this day to be.
And let me voice a thank you,

Made to Fly

I once knew an angel
Who frolicked and played
Dancing in sunlight,
All of her days.
Till one night a storm
Blew her out of the sky.
Damaged her wings,
She could no longer fly.

Meet Me at The Water

For so long, I’ve walked in circles
Trying to find my way through life
Tripping over my own two feet
Often falling to my knees
I dust myself off and try again

The Day of My Independence

There is a picture that was taken on Nanny’s porch,
That brings tears to my eyes to view.
I never imagined it would be my last time there,
With my children dressed in red, white and blue.
