Build a wall around my heart
For enemies there be
Lurking for the time so smart
To bring me to my knees

Shield and armor we do need
In this life so full of pain
Trusting God to navigate
To bring life giving rain

Enemies will always be
Look at Jesus, John, and Paul
Can’t stop attacks from coming
But we can stand not fall

Teach my hands to war cried David
He went through oh so much
The ones in our own households
Can bring the deepest cuts

Lord I want to stand up strong
In you my strength shall be
Not yielding to temptations
To fall apart and bleed

I need to dig a well so deep
Where we can stay in touch
And not get separated
By all lifes hurtful ruts
