This is London
This land never sleeps
it never grows old
the people don't age
I didn't grow up,
here in this strange land
where time never moves
and life goes onwards
Henry pushes on
and Diatto is king
The Poor take a snake
or a cattle shed
I arrive at the
ancient circus town
and look at the stalls
nowhere near to the lions
they are locked away
I see flamingos
they stalk around, proud
wearing fine feathers
and I see their feed.
I don't miss the past
but i do love now
I fear the future
the animals have
changed.
I'm in the lions den
Nobody helps me
I cannot feel love
I feel only fear
My time has ended
This is Tottenham.
This is London.
