My friend across the sea

I have a dear friend, who I never see,
who lives three thousand miles from me.
But it is as if he lives next door,
With words of kindness he does pour.
In letters and in emails to,
a friend who really cares for you.

I knew him when he was a child,
when he lived here quite close to me.
Now that he lives so far away,
I hear by email every day.
It's as if he's at my side,
And puts gladness in my heart, and mind.

For when your old there are few who care,
and a person like this is very rare.
