Masquerade - Mummers
Adorned in odd habiliments,
These men walk to the ball.
They stride with ease and no laments,
Into the party hall.
They speak so calm , so as to please,
All those who dance the floor.
Oh, yes they are -not just a tease,
To guys and gals galore.
But be on guard before you’re fooled,
And jumbled to their traps.
They flare you up and then let cooled,
It gets you into scraps.
So guys beware and girls take heed,
Of roles these mummers play.
They’d be like friends who takes the lead,
But never will they stay.
Coz' all they’ve got are fake facades,
Of who they really are.
They’re in disguise- folks bearing gauds,
With motives black as tar.
And if you’re smart you’ll know that this,
is euphemism for:
Those people who when you’re in bliss,
Will shove you out the door.

duplicitous
Yup, the duplicitous nature of many... One must careful at all times. I enjoyed reading this, it's a well-written and clever piece. Welcome to the Showcase.
Thanks
Thanks for the comment. Feels good to know people appreciate what you do....

Well done
Your rhyme and meter were pleasantly accompanied by your satirical and philosophical insights of the two faced fickle friends we meet along the way.

The only time I look down on another is when I am bending to help them up.
I agree
It is most clever and well written, almost too close to life (never mind almost, it is identical to life lol) . Welcome to the showcase, looks like you'll fit right in with this bunch!~Ron
