Time Passes Us On
Time Passes Us On
It's a sad fate
To be caught late;
Undone by time.
How sad that we
Can only sit and rhyme
Of deeds long past.
Nervous we wait for tomorrow,
But at yesterday we look with sorrow.
Time passes us on,
Bidded or no.
Sighing we look from past to present,
Present to future,
Sighing we look from future to past.
We run, but time leaves us last.
Ever we seek to turn back,
To undo what cannot be undone.
We sit and look into the Sun,
And we lose ourselves in dreams.
When life is bursting at the seams,
And all we have are those dreams
Time will bear us through the broken,
And it will heal.
But it hurts; all the unspoken.
Strange it is:
Time bears us past our hopes,
But others find hope in Time.
Time passes us by.
Ever fast, ever slow, on the fly.
The appointed time for us to die
Is always drawing nearer.
And Time never stops.
