[After Interlude]

{Kiara’s situation}

Kiara: Dammit. Why did this have to happen? I cannot BELIEVE this! Of all things. I just wanted to be with my sweetheart...but, (starting to cry)…I guess that isn’t going to happen.

(Kiara buries her head in her hands)

Unknown sound: He-Hel-Hello? D-Dis-patch t-to-----

(The radio signal seems to have a lot of static)

(Kiara, looking up as she removes her face from her hands)

Kiara: Wait….Is that….

Receiver: This is dispatch one. Over. I-Is anyone there?

(Kiara looks at the receiver that is laying in the floor of the front seat.)

Kiara: Oh, thank god….

(Kiara struggles to reach under the seat, as she tries to grab ahold of the receiver.)

Kiara: C-come on…..I need to get the receiver…Kiara, you can do it…

(Kiara, still struggling, tries to reach as far as she can to catch the receiver. But it is no use.)

(Kiara decides to take off one of her high-heeled shoes.)

Kiara: Now…if I could just reach…

(Kiara finally reaches the receiver with her shoe and smacks the receiver towards her.)

Kiara: THERE!

(Kiara looks at the receiver, puzzled)

Kiara: How do you work this thing???

(Kiara presses a random button, hoping that it will work.)

Kiara: Hello? Hello?! Can you hear me?! Is there anyone there?!?

Officer on other receiver: Loud and clear. What is your current situation, officer? Over.

Kiara: I’m not a police officer. I’m a young girl, about 18 years old. We have a situation. Over.

Police Officer: Alright. What is your situation, young lady? Where are you?

Kiara: I’m on Old Towne Avenue, in Kyoto, near the apartment buildings, on the right. Sir, the police officer in the front seat has been shot and killed by the suspect.

Police Officer: I’ll be over there as soon as possible. Hold tight. Over and out.

Kiara: Please, HURRY!

(After a few minutes, an officer appears on the scene.)

(The officer runs towards the only police car on the scene. He looks in the back seat and notices Kiara.)

Officer: Okay. I need you to stay calm. I have to type in the password on the keypad to let you out. Just stay put.

(The police officer types in the password and door unlocks)

(After Kiara is released from the car, she jumps out and hugs the officer and tells him what happened.)

Officer: Yeah, I remember receiving a transmission earlier about the suspect dressed as a police officer…Do you know where the suspect drove off to?

Kiara: How should I know? I only saw them drive down a few blocks, then turn right. And then I lost sight of them.

Police Officer: That is all I need to know for right now. Come with me.

Kiara: I’m sorry, but how do I know you are not working for them, too?

(The police officer shows his right arm, as he lifts up his sleeve, showing no tattoo. Then he takes off his hat, and tilts his head down to reveal no swastika tattooed on his head.)

Kiara: But how do I know that—

Officer: Look…if you keep on questioning me, the suspect is going to keep getting further away. Now let’s go!

Kiara: I know…But I am worried about my safety as well as my boyfriend and his friend, Miyuki.

Officer: And are these people in custody of the suspect?

Kiara: As far as I know, sir.

Officer: Thank you. That is all I needed to know. Now...if you would kindly and quickly step into the front seat. Then, we will be on our way.

Kiara: (troubled.) But, how do you know the way there?

Officer: I don’t. I am partially going by the directions you gave me, young lady. But I do have one bit of evidence to help with the search: The suspect drove away in a stolen patrol car.

Kiara: O-okay…

(After a few minutes of driving down the road and making the turn, they located the stolen patrol car.)

(The police officer pulls off to the side of the road, about a block from the site of the crime.)
