Letting Go
I wandered unknowingly through the garden-
The sting of the bee I did pardon.
The sun was shining bright,
O, what a beautiful sight!
Two little blue birds
So beautiful and gay-
Singing aloud as they play in the day.
I could almost hear the words:
"God is our maker, in Him we do sing."
Away they went flying-
The two little blue birds full of beauty and light.
Oh, look at that butterfly!
So colorful; so graceful.
For a while I watched
As the beautiful butterfly
Fluttered around from rose to rose.
What a dream it seemed to me-
Full of hopes and wishes-
The dearest thing for me to see!
A clash of thunder sounds through the world!
Oh, the poor little butterfly
With colors so bold!
I caught it in hand
And wandered inside....as I held it so close,
I dreamt a good dream;
To these I arose-
"This beautiful little butterfly, you must see,
Can no longer stay here-let it be free."
It is my world, so wonderful to me,
I can't let it go!
Oh, please, let me be!
"You must let go,
This you need to know-
If this little butterfly stays any longer,
It won't get any stronger,
Soon it will die."
No, it mustn't I cried!
"Let go"
I looked down at the little butterfly
With tears in my eyes.
I cried for a while, then I did rise.
I held it close as i wandered outside- I took my last glance.
Paler and paler the colors seemed to be.
Lord, I give this butterfly back to thee.
Unfolding my hands,
I raised them to the sky-
Flapping his wings-
Away he did fly.
I cried as I watched
As the beautiful butterfly flew towards the sun.
Then I heard a whisper,
"Your work here is done."
