Perpetual Pattern

Spun seeds of hope bring fear and doubt anew
Once buried thoughts surface with vigilance
holding my mind captive of any sense
while the soft threats of his past deeds hold true
I fear that there is little left to do
but hide my heart from him while in suspense
of what is really true. And in my defense
I question if we should really be through
Then once again he does come back to me
like a hungry hurt puppy left outside
and fleetingly I think that I can see
all the reasons that make him want to hide
Then bit by bit, he’ll open up to me
and I’ll forgive him and let him inside

Geowench,

There is a pattern to our living. You have a great eye for the human condition. Your poem was easy to read and gave me a complete sense of how we play games with one another. In the end, forgiveness is often the answer, but sometimes we have to know the difference between forgiveness and fear. As we grow, sometimes we outgrow the cycle of abuse.

Your picture is adorable!

Warm regards,

Kathy Paysen

Thanks Kathy

Thanks for your kind comment and for taking the time to read my poem. I like what you said about outgrowing the cycle of abuse, it's great food for thought.

Thanks again,
Crystal
