2008

Everything changed over the summer.
I cut my hair shorter and gave up eating,
Anything for those black drainpipes.
I took a thousand photographs
But not one of them contained you.

Eyes ache from weeks of insomnia,
Bony fingers exercised from those late night conversations.
Delicate hipbones grinding to a broken drum beat,
Battered Converse stained forever with memories.

Not once did I see the morning
And anything acoustic seemed beautiful.
Exaggerated eyelashes and wrists adorned with sparkle
And all those things I wanted to tell you.

Great writing, the emotion bleeds out of the words. Those certain times and days have a way of sticking with you. Thanks for sharing this here.
