Anonymous Alcoholic

A room, a ring, people to care
A thought, a dream, something to share
A way to stay sober, a short way up
A way out, over- away from stuck
Inspired by some of the simplest things
A word, a wake-up, when someone else sings
Awful moments now rolling out
Antiquated approaches, full of doubt
A friend to hear can aid the bout
Against what you cannot do alone
Ample assistance when between the stone
And a very hard place to be.

I dig the upfront nature of this...the honesty. I also like the overall message that it seems to send...that if we can all bond together in these times of trouble and express our fidelities with each other, we can take a step closer to solving our problems. Hey George,

Very good poem. I have been trying to get my stuff into the Grapevine. Have you ever trued to contact them and ask if they would print poetry? Give it a try. Maybe if other poets start submitting to them they will change their 1940's way.
