I climbed a mountain,reached the crest
Watched an eagle soar,seen it's nest
I wondered about life,about God's intent
Followed the road of dreams,as far as it went
As I looked at me dreams ,that had shattered
I asked myself what was it that mattered
Oh,family and friends that is a given
Is it time to change the life I am living
Went to the lake,thought about treading water
Asked if I was living my life,or was it just fodder
On the top of the moutain,I am no longer content
I scream,it echo's back,that was my intent
Thinking as I look across the valley below
Many people pass by,how many do I know
In my mind I see my road becoming a street
And I know it is time,time to retreat
