Cover the fields
Cover the fields, with faster winds,
Less the drought forgotten.
And to the men, lives of the heartland,
They knew.
Covering the soul, they need not leave,
Nor the lost love, of their’s.
The grimacing look of trees in the wind,
They knew.
Covered the sounding of the day,
With all might, less they grow weak.
Nor forget, but not know those who died,
They knew.
Covenant the spirit, here they feel right,
In their heart, a peaceful flood.
A dam to break, only to fill their hearts,
They knew.
Clovers for the fields, never thought to leave,
What grew in them, the stronger to walk.
To carry the will and shape the heart against fear,
They knew.
