Taunt for the Lonely

Why do you keep following me around
When you know I'd kill you if you could be found?
Even when I'm together or alone,
You linger midair and I feel so low.

I try to catch you laughing at me
But you've bribed the wind to run faster than me.
I turn around--you're not there.
Your taunting echoes to my grave.

Linked palms swinging lazily ahead.
I bow my face and look away.
You're back again to see my despair.
This time you've won and i wouldn't even care.

I'll never write love if I've never felt love.
Only seen love in people who know love.
But when I've caught love and pinned it to my heart,
I'll find your shadow and nail it to the wall.
