To Believe

~ To Believe ~

When you are dispirited, held back, beat down and you have no one,
you can give up, give in, or you can find those things you need to stand within yourself.

You must draw yourself up, with a strong stance and your head raised,
find your inner strength and look with calm eyes through a determined face.

If no one else believes in you, then you must believe in yourself.
If you can not get the love you need from others, you must make room in your heart and give that love to yourself.
You must accept yourself exactly as you are, all your flaws, all your faults, all your dreams.

You must accept yourself and love yourself exactly as you are now.

Not for what you were, not for what you may one day be.
Not when you have the body you want, not when you find the right person,
Not when you achieve your career goals, not when you have a family of your own.
Loving yourself and believing in yourself is contingent on none of these things.

We are all deserving of this love, this acceptance , this belief.
With it you will find a greater strength,
a greater confidence than you ever thought possible.

It is not in your physical demeanor, nor is it an attitude, in fact it has nothing to do with anyone else.

It is an inner stillness, a quiet resolve, the greatest thing you can ever do for yourself.

Believe.

What a great message!

You have such a great way of pulling together all our personal insecurities, and weaving them with all the positives of self, and creating inspiration! What a great way to start the work day!

Thanks

Thanks John, sometimes inspiration comes when you least expect it. I wrote this for a friend who was down. She had asked why I was so confident. I told her it had nothing to do with how I looked or what I could do. This was my way of explaining. Since the day I wrote this for her she keeps a copy in her purse.

~Great Message~

Jill,

You are more than a writer; you are the messenger. Your writing is a witness to the power of the human spirit.
Your wisdom rings like a beautiful bell. You blow me away!

The lesson you give in this writing, is a lesson that many never realize. I have come to realize this truth within the past ten years, but I still stumble over anger once in awhile.

You are a woman with many gifts. Your friends are lucky to have you. I am touched by everything that you pen.

Warmest regards,

Kathy

Have a beautiful day!

A Lesson Hard Learned

Thank you Kathy. This lesson was hard learned for me. I told my friend I wrote this for, that I realized this at an early age, unfortunately this lesson was hard learned, and that sometimes you have to hit bottom to see that there is a way out, that if you want to make it you have to be strong and find happiness within yourself. I am lucky also to have my friends, they keep me going. So glad you enjoyed this, and thank you so much for your kind comments.

I Shall Too Keep On Believing

fallen_butterfly,
So glad you found my poem , and a sincere thanks for your kind and insightful words.I find it so rewarding to think that my words and thoughts might encourage someone else... to know that even when your suffer, that by sharing you may be able to help others suffer less, to come to an easier understanding, that something good may come of your trials. I shall too keep on believing.

I have

nothing to say... other than 'thank you' for this piece...
I only hope to someday be able to write with such clarity, conviction and truth, as you did.
Thanks for giving me a read I can ponder upon today.
