The Tide

~The Tide~

Effortlessly you are suspended,
As the waves now beneath you rise,
And fall as they gently rock you.
With arms outreached you close your eyes.

Suddenly the current shifts,
As you struggle against the tide,
Though your resistance is in vain,
For its pull will not subside.

To live, to breathe, to survive,
You simply have to let go,
And let the current carry you.
You must give up all control.

In our nature the need to fight,
though it takes more strength to let go,
to trust in yourself to believe,
reasonings you do not yet know.

And when the tide releases you,
Scared, and so far from shore,
Barely treading above the depths
Weary, and shaken to the core.

Strong hands are reaching out for you.
You need not swim back all alone,
For all along they were waiting.
They will carry you safely home.

~Humility~

Jill,

Your command of words and spirituality are limitless. It is not enough to paint pretty pictures, we need to tell a story. This story is worth reading over and over again. It is similar to the poem I wrote today about humility.
Humility is the ability to surrender your entire being to God.

..."It takes more strength to let go"...my favorite line...

Faith carries us beyond our purpose. You clearly have a purpose in your writing and it is a joy to read you.

I look forward to what your mind stirs up tomorrow.

Warm regards,

Kathy

Telling Stories

Thank you Kathy! I enjoy writing poetry that tells a story, and telling stories in general.
I wrote this poem so that the tide could symbolize either an actual rip tide, religion or love, depending on the reader's point of view, symbolizing all three to me. I am glad you enjoyed it. I am a very independent person, and learning to let go has been one of my hardest lessons. I look forward to reading your new work as well.

Jill

It pays

to stay humble and keep faith.
I believe in what you expressed.
One of the few poems here I can really relate to.
and your words just flowed (like a gentle tide) effortlessly...
Well done! :)

Keep inspiring!
Eric

Thanks!

I agree completely, even when everything else is going wrong we have certain people in our life, and our faith to keep us strong.
Thank you for your kind words, I am glad you enjoyed it.

Jill

This is really beautiful.

I love the flow, the tide of this piece.
Letting go is one of the things I have to work on every day. Sometimes it is easier (not healthier) for me to turn to apathy, and give up caring about something instead of giving up control. I like the message you convey that whereever you end up is right where you are supposed to be. This poem and many things you write are very healing for me.
Thanks once again!

Where I'm Supposed To Be

Thank you JC so much for your kind and insightful words. I try to learn from the hardships I face, to grow as a person. In fact if it had not been for some of the struggles in my life, I wouldn't be the same person I am now. I think even when life is hard, I am exactly where I am supposed to be, I just pray for the grace to accept it. So glad I could be a help to you.

Take care,

Jill
