A Single Moment
~A Single Moment~
To live in this single moment,
this lightest breath, this softest touch,
to captured by this smallest,
this briefest space of time,
to be fully present, alive,
consumed in this instant alone,
this is truly living.
In this single moment,
a life is just beginning.
In this single moment,
another life is drawing to a close.
Instantaneously:
the realization of a dream,
the loss of everything held dear.
Our lives, a series of defining moments,
strung together by passing time.
Surrender fully to this moment,
because it is not the moment itself,
that defines us,
but how we choose to live in it.

I needed this today!
Living in the moment is so much easier said then done for me.
I really enjoyed this. Eternal Optimist is a great name! It is funny, because overall, I am an optimist, but I find I can usually only write from my pain or dark side.
Thanks again for sharing this!
Thanks
Thanks John...I am for the most part optimistic...always try to find the good in things and people. I mostly write from that point of view. My dark side is as dark as my good side is bright though, and I rarely share the things I write when I am upset or angry. Glad you enjoyed it!
~A Moment is a Lifetime~
Jill,
Your poetry defines a person with a profound wisdom. I agree with every word in this poem. A moment can define greatness and a moment can define a harsh reality. To live in the moment is to know God. You have strung these verses together with such care for the world we live in. I am so happy you joined our writing community!
Beautiful!
Warm regards,
Kathy Paysen
