Screw Apperances

Assumptions are dangerous
A clear reason why there
Won't be we are the world
Not that I believe in that anyway
No matter how hard we try...

But I can't change humanity
It starts with the face in the mirror
Black, white, brown, red and yellow
Each of us with a part to play
Even though some, if not all depending on the day
Don't want to participate in the game
And refuse to take responsibility
And instead blame the other universally
If we don't get our way
A clever distraction to avoid
The real issue of envy, jealousy
Or perhaps its deeper then human nature...

The fatality of free will
Is a ruse perpetrated by the folks who
Look over the hill at the city below
With a cocktail in one hand
A vial of cocaine in his floozie's snatch
And if we're heading toward a catastrophe
Isn't it time we mere paupers common
Put aside all the petty bullshit and get together
And help each other prepare for the coming Apocalypse?

Eventually the mansions in the sky
Will tumble and the arrogance will promise
Then deliver certain death and I'm hearing
That being humble ain't a drag
No pictures in the papers
No paparazzi flash bulbs at the opening
Of a brand new parking lot
But I've seen the reward is greater
More fulfilling, so forgive me
For being hopeful as the moment is ripe
To mend fences for its far better
Then tearing each other apart over appearances
Hell...I should know...
