Good Enough
You were played, snookered, bamboozled
A tool used by me
You're entitled to an opinion
I won't deem it rational
Or a fool's folly
But I'll make it clear
You won't drag me
Down into your abyss
Armed with a loaded pistol
And a bottle of rye
Those days are over, my friend.
I won't carry the weight
Of your sins, I have enough
2 be concerned with
Doing the work while you do nothing
But complain yet take the credit for success
Is a no-win situation
The free ride is over...
It's time to take hold
Of the reigns of a precious life
We were given just one
But you take it for granted
Poor choices, unadulterated pleasure
Leaving us to clean up the mess
Clear away the wreckage
As always...
The idealism to change the world
Firmly planted in the minds of youth
Working harder then those who never appreciate
A non refundable ticket to either
A room with padded walls
Or a stone to be relieved on
When nature calls...
The Compassion still burns brightly
Yet evened out by a hard fought wisdom
That one dosn't measure their value as a human being
On the amount of souls they can save
I'm not Jesus nor an annoited saint
Though there were moments
I arrogantly felt that way
But why should I lie awake mourning in despair
While you don't care about the sanctity of your decadent life?
You won't be the death of me
Or vice versa
I'll do my best
I'll take your criticism
And unfettered emotional abuse
But I refuse to own it
Someone else is in charge
There was already one martyr
So let's discharge our stubborness and pride
And lay our hands upon the one
Who is worthy and far more deserving
Then this suffocating self absorbing illusion of free will.
