Benign Tumor
Lord, we need you to heed our call
Save for us hitting the same brick wall
Bless us with common sense
Worry is another needless expense.
I can't help wondering
How we expect to survive
On the selfishness of strangers
And our less than impressive looks
But we have plenty of heart to spare
Yet nobody seems to care unless
It furthers their actualized agenda.
Resolved to reciting
The pathetic affirmations
Spoken from the cups of despair
There's only so much blood to donate
Until I'm in need of surgical repair
Can't ask for a handout for
I can't pay back the loan
Well, at least the children
Won't go hungry
If only I had the winning numbers
In the sweepstakes
Instead of threatening letters
From angry creditors
I would be truly free
But human nature tells me
I would still be an ungrateful bastard
Who's never satisfied.
