the past couple of months
I have been revisiting my youth.
it has been enjoyable,
that's the god's honest truth.

my teens and early twenties
were really quite mild.
I never did drugs or bars,
I was a pretty good child.

joe on the other hand
quite the contrary in fact;
you name it-he did it.
yes, opposites attract.

I did my share of drinking
but that was all.
i felt my role was protector,
making sure nobody got "that call"!

married at twenty-three
before I really matured,
i settled down at an early age
so the bar scene was detoured.

i suppose it's impossible to miss
that which you've never had.
but, I guess once you find it;
you seem to want it real bad.

so after volley-ball
I like to go to the Grille;
to sit and have a few drinks
has become the drill.

I usually over indulge
and my judgment is marred;
thinking it's alright
because of the permission card..

but enough is enough
I need to control the drinking
what in the hell
have I been thinking??

I am a mother of two
yes with "stuff" in the past;
but if I continue like this
any day soon could be my last!

so, starting today
this is my new goal.
go and have fun
but stay in control!
