Water running

I can hear water running,
while I lay in the dark.
I drifted off into a daze,
that's when the noise start.
It's a baby crying over my soul.
Where is the parents, an average person would think.
The water is running to long,
I hope it don't run over the sink.
I imagined someone saying,
"Turn the water off, and please get the baby."
The water stopped then I heard a voice of an old lady.
Speaking softly she asked, "Where is your mama baby?"
An unknown voice said,
"In another country maybe,
see I was adopted when I was just a little baby,
my mama put me in the tub with the water running,
the water got so high I couldn't hollar."
While in a daze,
tears started falling,
but they didn't wet my face.
I opened my eyes only to see,
that the little baby crying was my soul underneath.
Water running took me back to the day,
when my mama lefted me in a cold wet place.
But when it stopped running an old lady came to take her place.
Now all my running water goes down the drain.

very moving, Elizabeth

This poem of a soul in pain touched my soul. Childhood memories burden people terribly. A vivid poem. Great job!
