Let That Be The Reason
What was the reason for growing up with rats and roaches.
Everyday different people smoking,
sitting on the neighborhood porches.
Broken beer bottles all over the place.
When a fight broke out they was used to cut your face.
Mama didn’t buy coats for the winter season,
growing up so hateful.
But let’s not make that the reason,
for not making positive decisions.
No alarm clock’s,
Couldn’t get up for school.
Just a bunch of hard knock’s.
Daddy couldn’t afford a watch,
Just enough money for his next rock.
Until one day he got popped.
Growing up so hateful.
But let’s not make that the reason,
For not making positive decisions.
Police didn’t see a difference in us children.
They would throw us to the ground for whatever reason.
Mama and daddy wasn’t around to see this.
To busy robbing the elderly misses.
Never received any hugs or kisses.
Never even believed in wishes.
Growing up so hateful.
But let’s not make that the reason,
for not making positive decisions.
In God I trust.
Found a bible in the basement before it collected dust.
Got my thought’s together,
So I could change for the better.
Relatives changed with the winter.
Sometimes blood is no thicker than water.
That’s why I prayed harder,
No sorrow’s;
Focused on the future of my tomorrow.
This is God’s mission,
that why I let that be the reason,
for making positive decisions
