Autism

When I first saw you, you looked as normal as can be.
I noticed you were different when you didn't make eye contact with me.
When I called your name you didn't turn to look.
I thought you were deaf at first,
until I noticed you would run when you heard your favorite cartoon show.
You would throw a rage whenever I say no.
When I asked what's wrong you couldn't say a word.
Oh my God was all I could say,
especially when I took you to the doctor that day.
The doctor looked up at me to say,
"I am very sorry but Autism has come his way."
My heart dropped to my feet before I could say,
"What is Autism?"
She replied, "Some type of delay."
Why is this happening to my child I wanted to know?
But no answers came to my front door.
Just a bunch of Doctors with false advice.
I had to understand that they didn't know my son the way that I did.
So I wiped my tears,
then put away my fears.
Autism is not the end for my child.
Yes, it took me a while.
But I taught him not to be ashamed of what he has.
Now he makes eye contact, he even giggle and laugh.
I have something special that many people don't have.
Autistic children are very smart.
They just see things differently, and takes their time on earth to heart.

Profound

'Take their time on earth to heart'
I coulden't have said this better. A heart warming poem Elizabeth.
