The Binding Plea

To breathe for all ye in times of dreadful iniquity
Sway of chronic deceit, vicious misdeed -
The destroyers of nobility, costly bought dignity.
Being pitilessly firm... for nothing eludes His Eyes -
The deadweights, earthly - perilous ties!
Is the work a continual, solemn prayer?
Is the work a self-seeking,
(Scandalous!) misdeeds purveyor?

Distaste the outlook earthbound
Where no durable content
And stirring hope are found.
Detest the pagan, vain efforts -
Hostile to the uplifting Design
The unchecked, reckless decline.

Staring in the face of abhorrent reality...
For sin offended Thee in unsightly infinity
The fruitless enslavement
Far advanced is the night,
The enemies of sanctity
Aiming at denying this dazzling Light
Toiling against sound reason
Vainly struggling to dethrone Thee -
Mindless, coldhearted treason.

Oh! The Liberating, Life-giving power of Thee
The trustworthy, unrivaled, foolproof!
Essence of Christianity...

Sin offended Thee in frightful infinity
No finite creature
Could earn fit reparation
For sin's perpetration
And, adoring His Blood and Tears
Is to pacify discouraging, hopeless fears.

To be unattached with unclouded eyes
Hidden in The Wounded Palm...
While soul no longer dies...
Freed from life-defying lies
And illusion creating ties.
Clothed in the garment of opulent grace
To finish the costly won... triumphant race.

Sin offends Thee in infinity...
To be delivered from all except Thee
To clearly see... to justly be...
In Bloody Hand be washed and free
To breathe for all ye...
In days of frightful iniquity
(Oh! speak through me to "all" ye...)
And, the Bread of Heaven
Illumine darkened minds
And ignite somnolent hearts,
For each step entertains
The thought of salvation
Or horror of damnation...
Set on fire the feeble flame
Of "human goodwill"
To relish its fill...

~Psalm of Grace~

Dorothy,

May dark minds be filled with Bethlehem.

Stars fill your beautiful thoughts.

A light in the wilderness burns this day.

Kathy

The Gravity Of Sin

Great to see you back Doc! This is one powerful poem! It reminded me of the words of Jesus as revealed to one great saint (the name now escapes me) that if we saw the ugliness of just one sin, we would die of terror! Thank you for such an important reminder. I must admit it gave me goosebumps. God bless...

Welcome Back Dr. Kardas!

The Binding Plea is a genial exposition of the graveness of sin penned with a technique that stirs the soul and mind to serious self-reflection. Your newest poems show the sharpness of intellect and mature spiritual thought, as always! Brilliant line: sin toils against sound reason...indeed.

Our family wishes you the very best.

Sin: The Viper's Poisonous Sting!

Superbly done portrail of the effects of sin. It IS either SALVATION or the horror of DAMNATION as your so intensely elude to! Perfect Season to ponder about the world's degeneration...we may not all be part of the problem...but CERTAINLY we are all part of the SOLUTION! Peace be with you! TwoPence

"A spiritual athlete is not crowned

unless he/she competes according to the rules!"
Thank you for reading and always insightfully commenting on my work.
The clouding of consciousness and weakening of the will are the two main effects of sin. All wrongdoings and misdeeds blind; they deprive of light because they deprive of sight; as we know, they blind to the effect, that those weaknesses are neither clearly or at all recognized nor their various detrimental implications are properly understood. Additionally, this state of one's soul weakens the will to do what is right or perceived as good; not only there is no apperception that inward reformation is required but there is unwillingness to participate in what is good. There are also definitive noetic consequences of sin, for through grave sins, human beings not only reject the validity of God's truth, but also by refusing to accept God's truth they disclaim and disown their own truth as well. All wrongdoings and transgressions (depending on the gravity of sin) represent the denial of divine grace, love, truth, justice etc. as a consequence of which the sinner lives outside of divine life in a clear opposition to the standard of holiness for which all of us were created... to become holy and have a share in divine life and nature.
For this reason St. Teresa of Avila stated: "There could be no worse death for me than to think I had offended God!" For "sin is nothingness" as St. Augustine affirmed and "men become nothingness when they sin" since no truth and love which give life to the soul abide in them. Only charity delivers us from death and keeps us from entering darkness...

Wishing you a boundless share in His Life and Joy...

Very cordially in Christ,
Dorothy

Thank You. Your message is of greatest importance!

Thank you Dr. Kardas, this message in reply was so very important to us and appreciated at this time. My husband has been thrilled to tears hearing from you. I have read him your messages and he wishes me to thank you in his name. I do not know if you had read my message earlier this month on this site. We both are now in Sydney with family, because of my husband's massive stroke we wanted him in the best Recovery Center in this area. Progress at this point is slow, but we have trust and faith in God that he will recover slowly in time.
I have not had time to respond to many of his friend here, but we enjoy your work so much together, that I had to find the time to say, Thank you and God bless you for your penetrating words. I have made some copies of your work to read to my husband and his small group of new friends. They love to hear your messages, although I'm sure I do not do your work justice as a reader.
Please, pray that Yuri recovers soon; he indeed is a wonderful man who tries very hard to follow in the Lord's Ways.
Love, Maya

Blessed be the "apostolate of suffering"!

Thank you for your heartfelt messages that stirred the core of my being... So sorry to hear about your beloved husband's massive stroke. Unfortunately, I did not know about it since I do not visit the Showcase as often as I would like to. Indeed, your husband is an exceptionally thoughtful, sagacious and noble person, and so are you... Please, be assured that we (my family and friends) will be praying daily for his speedy recovery, for you and your family as well. Undoubtedly, those who faithfully suffer and pray will receive a radiant crown in the "Kingdom of Life"! Any suffering that is allowed by God through "Permissive Will of God" is a great privilege - has an infinite sanctifying power, always being an unambiguous evidence of God's special love and treatment of the soul; it is His invitation to enter into the profound depth of divine mystery; it is to partake in the salvational work with Christ. God grants boundless rewards not for the successes of our work but rather for the sufferings endured - "It is not for the success of a work, but for the sufferings that I give reward" - Jesus to St. Faustina. As we know, the Christian vocation is one of sacrifice changelessly carrying about in our bodies the dying of our Redeemer, his suffering on the cross. St. Frances de Sales asked pointedly: "which is better - to be on the cross with Christ or standing at the foot of the cross contemplating His sufferings"? The crown of thorns and the crown of glory need to be recognized as absolutely necessary in shaping our ultimate victory. Looking at this world with natural eyes brings a significant dose of pain, yet nothing can significantly hurt those who try to be loyal to God, and be in the closest union with God - who are supernaturally transformed for nothing - whether it be injustice, illness or any form of pain - can usurp over them greater influence than divine power and love do. Pain is gradually turned into joy since it is recognized for what it intrinsically is - becoming therefore an incentive for a sacrificial offering which consequentially brings about healing, restoration and greater fulfillment. Through our unconstrained suffering endured in the spirit of self-sacrificial love, we join Christ's sufferings in His salvational work for all, contributing therefore to the crescendo of love - its steady augmentation - its intensity and potency. Sharing in the sufferings of Christ is identical with suffering for the Kingdom of God, and for this reason becoming also worthy of the Kingdom of God. It is impossible to please Our Lord without complete Trust in His Mercy; we MUST TRUST ALWAYS FOR GOD DOES NOT LOSE BATTLES! And His Grace will be far more abundant...
Thank you again for your kindness and supportive words, which I truly cherish...

May your hearts and your years be in God's hands of love...
Again, I wish to reassure you of our prayers and Christian service...

Much love to you and your husband... and kindest regards to his friends!
With a very cordial friendship in Christ,
Love - Dorothy

Words of Eternal Truth- And Everlasting Thankful Hearts

Dear Friend in Christ, Dr. Kardas,

Your message of timeless treasures has left us more than teary eyed and grateful. I read this to Yuri at his group meeting, and there was not a dry eye in the room. Indeed, you are a messenger of God's Love and sower of His Truth. Through your words flow the rays of the Holy Spirit, as if Jesus were saying the words to us Himself. My family personally thanks you for your time and kindness to send these words of wisdom our way. Juri looks forward to the reading sessions we provide, three to four times a week. Though, neither he nor his friends can verbally communicate, their eyes tell us what the soul has absorbed. God bless you for your prayers, all of us are eternally grateful and return prayers your way.
Yuri knows his condition will not improve, and that his time here is short. But his Faith and closeness to God keeps his spirit alive and well. We are fortunate to be on the mainland where Yuri and I have a church readily available, not like on the island where we drove two hours to get to services. Whatever happens, we are accepting God's will with no hesitation, for God's will be done. We and our seven children, fifteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren are here at Yuri's side.
Yuri has made His peace with God in confessional sacrament and is ready to face His Creator. We would still appreciate prayers for him, since the "journey to Heaven" may be a long rough journey. You all may not hear from me personally again soon. Be assured Dr. Kardas, your words have meant so much to all of us and we just can't find the right words for "THANK YOU"!
Always faithfully in Christ Our Saviour,
Maya

"Do Not Fear My Child,

But Remain Faithful Only To My Grace..." - Jesus

Dear Friends in Christ,

I am enormously grateful for your moving letter, which contains so much... It is evident that your hearts are very close to Christ, and your generous abandonment to the will of God as well as an unswerving faithfulness in all circumstances reveal the greatness and spiritual heroism of your souls. Without a doubt, the fundamental motive behind genuine prudence and freedom is submission to, and fulfillment of God's Perfect Will. When we are clothed in His omnipotent grace, we can find peace in all... for in His Loving Presence and Captaincy we are always safe... As Jesus stated to St. Faustina: "... you give Me greater glory by a single act of obedience than by long prayers and mortifications." In the trials and suffering that befall us we grow not only in deeper love for Our Lord but also discover more clearly God's all-powerful protection and His unchanging and unbounded Mercy and Love. Jesus spoke repeatedly and pointedly to St. Faustina about His Love inviting all to turn to Him and trust in His unfathomable Mercy: "Let the weak, sinful soul have no fear to approach Me, for even if it had more sins than there are grains of sand in the world, all would be drowned in the unmeasurable depths of My mercy." And, on another occasion He affirmed: "Bring your ear close to My Heart, forget everything else, and meditate upon My wondrous mercy. My love will give you the strength and courage you need in these matters" - "Diary: Divine Mercy in My Soul" St. Maria Faustina Kowalska.

May Our Holy Mother keep you all under the shelter of Her maternal mantle...
May you all receive the infinitely loving assistance of the Holy Spirit, recalling that "there is no finer lover than one who's suffered much."
Please, be assured that we are united in prayer and love forever!

With deep affection and solidarity in Christ,
Dorothy

God Bless You Our Dear Friend...

Your words and prayers remain a constant source of encouragement for us all in this very difficult time. Without our faith and love of Christ, it does not seem possible for us to go on. Thank you again for taking the time to help us. Our family sends their love and prayers to you also... Maya
