Deadly Adept
Unable to endure ambiguity
Is dead set to define, categorize
Commit assault, commit a crime...
The crime of "fixing the limits of..."
Unfit to confront double entendre
Innuendo, and equivoque dives into settling
And fixing things in accord with its tight
Cerebral space... fearing its mental death
Impotent to withstand doublethink
Fervently puts a label, a price tag
On everyone and everything
Dreading its own conceptive failure
Not apt to outface mystery and uncertainty
Perpetrates endlessly mental dishonesty
Deforming, delimiting, blotting out
Mutilating and injuring...
Inapt to come to face with...
Inapt to look in face of...
Inapt to outface it... is steadily
Defacing, just to keep up its face...

Lame Judgment of the Stubborn "Defacer"!
We enjoyed greatly reading this masterwork! It is pithy, witty and wise. To some extent we all are guilty of trying to "save face", but let's remember never to "deface" others in the process for we don't have a God's eye view of the soul. The ending is simply brilliant! Dr. you are a great satirist, and your didactic skills are amazing. Many thanks for the hearty laugh!
Keeping Up Face...Like a Kabuki !
This is what really good poetry is made of.... thought and food for the soul. Makes one wonder sometimes how some folks can look at the "face" in their mirror, so they play the old-time game of changing masks...but never do expand that "tight cerebral space".
Really deep philosophical thought here. Hoping to expand my own cerebral space! Thanks for another super challenge.
Quite a Catch!
Tough and to the point! Great to see a poet of your stature sharing your work here. Great summation, "...steadily defacing to keep up its face"! You've got me hooked, Doc!
