Pleasure and Pain
Conceived in pleasure
Born in pain
They hold us, hit us
Again and again
Feelings that surround
Our everyday life
From dawn to dusk
Happiness and strife
Love, our goal
Is hardly found
It appears too little
To go all around
Pain is available
At a discount
Always, everywhere
It can be found
Walking a tightrope
Sure not to fall
Some escape both
Is it worth it at all?
Life in a cocoon
Soft and warm
No idyllic scenes
No fierce storms
But I’ll take both
In any proportion
Pain or pleasure
I need emotion

Thanks for reading and commenting. It's only when you feel pain can you measure the worth of pleasure.

So much truth!
This piece...azamzing. You are a fantastic truth-teller...(if that's a word/phrase....) Anyway, once again, your word choice is out of this world (not literally, because your words are quite English, which is very Earth-y...). These first lines: "Conceived in pleasure Born in pain" --It is such a sick irony--and does wonders in poetry =] But even through all the extreme times in life, very few of us would give up our emotions. Lovely write.
