If only I could be like her the one I love so dearly,
I strive each day to overcome the hardships that come my way,
all I have to do is ask her advice that comes to her so clearly,
with a little word here and a big hug there she can always save the day,

the world is upon her shoulders the worry and stress her kin,
taking upon herself the pain of us all and turning are wrong to right,
never needing thanks or asking for it and not fighting with us to win,
heart on her sleeve for us all to use and her face a picture of light,

the life she did live nobody im sure would believe to be true,
very few understand the suffering and pain she did endure,
even as a child she held her mother and comforted her as she grew,
drink was what killed her mother and mum found religion her cure,

if I had the strength that she has to love and push away all thats bad
then one day maybe my children will feel for me what I feel for her,
that others may not understand her is something that drives me mad
her patience and fairness i only truly knew when I became a mother

everyday that I am far from her is painful to my very core,
a reminder of a day to come when she will not be there to hold,
of a day when I can come for reassurance from her no more,
for a word from her on those lonely days will be worth the earths gold,

don't ever think i don't remember every big or small thing youve done
even though im grown ,I still yearn for your motherly touch,
