Forgiveness

Forgiveness

by Debborah Jensen

In this world we're living, its very hard to know,

When we infract anothers boundries, or when we hurt them so.

Live at peace with all men, the prophets of old said.

So by this axiom I tried to live, it molds the life I've lead.

So when one rises in anger, or curses my very name,

I try to resolve the problem, ask forgiveness, instead of returning the same.

Get out myself and into their head to understand their perspective.

Humbly I acknowlege the breech, and try not to repeat it.

It's hard enough for this proud soul to admit that it is wrong,

But to refuse the request for forgiveness, makes the hurt very strong.

It's kinda like you take your heart and offer it up to them,

They take it,throw it on the floor and stamp it into bits.

They prefered the anger and hate, and the power it exudes,

Then to patch up the breech, and live in peace, why I don't have a clue.

But I've done my part to keep the love in my soul alive.

I'll let go of the hurt they inflicted on me, and forgive them, and say goodbye.

To not accept an apology, and refuse to make amends,

Will backfire on the refuser, for they will die alone in the end.
