Fall's Meditation
It was summer just a week ago;
So hot, I sweat a bucket.
Then came September twenty-third
To close heat's door and lock it.
Autumn swept in so strong and sudden,
With its spontaneous cooling,
As if it held some sort of contempt
Of summer's heat so grueling.
As if it's completely immiscible
With any signs of summer,
The rebirth of different shades of russet
Steps quickly to its drummer!
Within what seems a single moment,
The ensemble appears
That will dishevel well kept lawns
But still impress its peers.
The clouds assemble just in time
To bring the cool breeze in.
And now that summer has gone by
We see Fall's meditation.
