You Are Nature (I love you)

There are traces of the sun
In your smile
Sparkle of the stars
In your eyes

Intriguing hint
Of foxy guile
That makes me pause
And realize

That your tears are like
Springtime rain
Walnut brown eyes wide
As Montana skies

Your breath the zephyr
Of the mountain pass
Breast a nest for hummingbirds
And cold Heart rimmed with ice

Attitude both bad and good
As changeable as the weather
Hale and hard as hickory wood
And hardy as the heather

If all the heavens beauty could be
Conjoined in one solid mass
Twould be as hard as flint could be
Yet both soft as meadow grass

…You are Nature…
I love you

Speechless...

Wow--as a nature lover I was entranced by the elegant flow and imagery of these words. I think what made it an even more mesmerizing experience was the song that I happened to be listening to on youtube at the time I was reading it. It was called This is Life by Amy MacDonald, and the fast rhythm and guitar added more power to your poem(not that it needed it). Great write! Can't wait to read more of ya!=]

Thanks much Abie...

David o Whalen I'm glad you liked it, since it's not goin' over all that great. I kinda liked it too. I'm posting on 5 sites so maybe it will do better on one of those. Thanks again nice lady and check my blog if you would. I only have about 575 poems, so you might find a couple more you like.

What an ode!

David this is BEAUTIFUL!! Seriously my favourite poem of yours by far, a stunning use of imagery and written with such tenderness. Great to read you again :) ♥

JP, I always appreciate...

David o Whalen comments from you. You are one of the bestest free verse writers on this site, (among only a few others) and that's one genre that remains beyond my best efforts, so your words always mean a lot to me, especially at this point in my life. I don't know if I'll ever use up all the words and phrases in my tattered pocket notebook, but if I do, that'll probably be enough. Appreciate ya' always Jewel.
