Touchy Subject

If you want to have
pleasant discussions
Talk of friends, or nature…
or fishin’

If you want possible
Repercussions
Talk of God
Or about religion

Neither one’s more
or less important
Than the
Other (to me)

Neither one has
More special
Purpose to
Serve (or to be)

But I've found talkin’ of friends…
Or nature…Or fishin’
Is waaaay less likely
To touch on a nerve

Tall Tales

David you would think so!!!
But have you ever heard the tall tales of the fish that got away. It can spark a lot of debate and argument.

I feel that everyone should be able to write and comment what they feel in their hearts.

I was almost going to publish a poem on the same matter but I didn't what to ruffle feathers. So I publish poems about love instead, who could disagree with being in Love. LOL

It really doesn't have much to do with the poet but with a person's believes. I feel all have the right to believe something strongly as long as they try to force them another.

A great poem, from a great poet.

Peace and God Bless

You Beat Me To It! LOL

Hi David,

I was just thinking about writing a poem on this topic today, but never got the time. Then I came home and read your excellent piece on the subject. You took the words out of my mouth, but no doubt wrote them much more poetically than I could anyway, so I'm glad.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you. I guess I wrote my latest poem in response to Tom's poem on the subject, but I also confess (no pun intended) to writing much spiritual poetry recently, especially in the later months of last year.

Point taken, and thanks for the good advice - much appreciated. I love your use of rhyme in this poem - well done. Nature is one of my favorite subjects, as you may have guessed from my previous poetry. I haven't fished since I was a boy (with my father), but I have fond memories. 'Talking of friends' eludes me though. I 'have' friends, but to talk about them in poetry is a 'foreign concept' to me. Talking about 'love' on the other hand is common.

Enjoy the rest of your week, and best wishes. Warmest regards,

Chris

A house full of women...

David o Whalen is what I live in Chris, and most of the talk here concerns kids, grandkids, but mostly about friends. (except for me...I don't have a lot to say)

Keep Saying Nothing

David,

Keep saying nothing because if your poems are saying nothing, they say it beautifully. I have no kids and no grandchildren, I do have friends a few, but they're good friends. I speak often of nature as you do. Nature has become a wonderful companion and lover.

Fishin'

Nice one David, I love my fishin' too. I fish in the sea near my home, and I dangle a nice juicy bait and fish for responses on a poetry site!

Best wishes and keep up the good work!

Tom
